Independent craftsmen, suppliers, friends, and customers—these are the key pillars to the success of my company. We achieve together to provide the best product for you—the person who uses our work throughout your daily life. My dream when starting out in the world of door handles was to make daily life just a little bit better. Door handles are something you have to use every day; you can’t avoid them. While many people don’t give them much thought, it’s actually a good thing because it indicates that they are reliable and durable. It’s only when they start causing issues that they truly capture our attention. Providing reliable and durable products was never an issue for me; it’s the minimum standard.
That’s why I have wholeheartedly devoted myself to prioritising ease of use, innovation, style, comfort, and elegance in my work. Why? Because my ultimate aim is to enhance your daily life, even if it’s just by a small margin. So, I had a goal, but I lacked support—something crucial when swimming in the big world of architectural hardware.
But good fortune soon came, in the name of Carlisle Brass.
It was purely fortuitous that I discovered Carlisle Brass—a stroke of luck. Situated in the frontier land near Hadrian’s Wall, in the picturesque outskirts of Carlisle, their products have earned the top spot as the preferred choice for the UK’s top ten housing developers. The memory of my initial encounter with Mark Wallis, Director, and Jon Giles, Regional Sales Manager, remains vivid even after a span of 25 years. In a world dominated by industry giants, it is a paradoxical marvel that they, in all their towering stature, take immense pride in fostering relationships with small businesses, providing them with the essential support needed to soar above the ground and embrace their full potential. And that’s exactly how they treated me.
They skillfully guided me through their vast array of top-quality products, enabling me to customise them precisely to suit the unique needs of my clients. Additionally, they offered invaluable second opinions and enthusiastically sang my praises to others. This connection extends far beyond a mere 25-year business relationship; it is a genuine friendship that we have cultivated and forged. The pivotal element that bonded us together was our shared vision. Over the course of the past 25 years, Carlisle Brass and I have remained steadfastly committed to fostering innovation, embracing style, comfort, and elegance. Our unwavering dedication to these principles has been the driving force behind our collective journey. Cultivating an approach dedicated to these principles means that we have grown together throughout the last 25 years. Wherever I step foot into the offices of most developers in the UK, I am filled with assurance, knowing that Carlisle Brass is a name held in high regard due to its remarkable reputation. They need no convincing when it comes to using their products.
Their virtues reach far beyond the realm of products, encapsulating exceptional customer service and an unwavering dedication to meticulous attention to detail. They leave no stone unturned in optimizing every facet of the customer experience, demonstrating a remarkable commitment to delivering excellence in every interaction. Without a doubt, I possess unwavering trust in their ability to consistently deliver exceptional results and an unmatched level of service and product quality.
So, that’s it – my secret is out. Now you now know about Carlisle Brass, a key factor to my success in this industry. Together throughout the last 25 years, we have prioritised innovation, style, and exceptional customer experiences to enhance daily life. They make up key ingredients to our success – it’s about making your life an inch better. So next time you use your trusty door handle, remember there’s a good chance it was forged in the outskirts of Carlisle by some of the UK’s best craftsmen.

We’ve had themes of luxury, traditional – which brings us up to date with contemporary. The contemporary theme will always be the ‘in thing’, whether it was contemporary 35 years ago or today at this precise second! Whether you’re a developer building a new project suitable for young people or wanting to revamp your existing home – there are door handles which can tick all the correct boxes.
Last time, we focused on luxury, showcasing the must-have door handles for any luxurious abode. But what about returning to the basic idea of what a traditional door handle represents? When exploring ideas of tradition in England, we tend to concentrate on Georgian, Victorian-style, or 1930s homes – eras when the UK experienced mass housebuilding. And those homes were so successful, with their iconic designs, that we often consider them as our quintessential traditional homes.
First impressions matter. And as a developer, you need to get a handle on it – literally! So my mission is to provide my audience with some insight into door handles and which ones you should use, depending on the style of your building project. So we’ll go through three styles – luxury, traditional and contemporary.
