London Architectural Hardware, a leading ironmongery supplier renowned for its involvement in the refurbishment of St Paul’s Cathedral, has marked a significant milestone in its journey by expanding into its new Rainham HQ. The company specialises in providing architectural furnishings, such as door handles, locks, toilet roll holders, and soap dispenser holders. Dedicated to enhancing the aesthetics and functionality of properties, London Architectural Hardware has solidified its reputation in the property industry by providing an array of meticulously crafted hardware pieces – from historic recreations for heritage buildings to cutting-edge new locking systems. Notably, the company’s selection of door handles, often underestimated in their importance, play an essential role in shaping first impressions, providing a potential edge to property companies searching for customers.

We’ve had themes of luxury, traditional – which brings us up to date with contemporary. The contemporary theme will always be the ‘in thing’, whether it was contemporary 35 years ago or today at this precise second! Whether you’re a developer building a new project suitable for young people or wanting to revamp your existing home – there are door handles which can tick all the correct boxes.

Last time, we focused on luxury, showcasing the must-have door handles for any luxurious abode. But what about returning to the basic idea of what a traditional door handle represents? When exploring ideas of tradition in England, we tend to concentrate on Georgian, Victorian-style, or 1930s homes – eras when the UK experienced mass housebuilding. And those homes were so successful, with their iconic designs, that we often consider them as our quintessential traditional homes.

First impressions matter. And as a developer, you need to get a handle on it – literally! So my mission is to provide my audience with some insight into door handles and which ones you should use, depending on the style of your building project. So we’ll go through three styles – luxury, traditional and contemporary.

We achieve together to provide the best product for you—the person who uses our work throughout your daily life. My dream when starting out in the world of door handles was to make daily life just a little bit better. Door handles are something you have to use every day; you can’t avoid them. While many people don’t give them much thought, it’s actually a good thing because it indicates that they are reliable and durable. It’s only when they start causing issues that they truly capture our attention. Providing reliable and durable products was never an issue for me; it’s the minimum standard.

A new digital site access cylinder system, activated by a smartphone, has been implemented by construction contractor Multiplex during the building of R&F Properties’ flagship One Nine Elms development in South London. Multiplex is the first contractor in the UK to utilise the technology, replacing the need for physical keys used by contractors on sites. The new innovation emerged after Rainham-based architectural ironmongers, London Architectural Hardware Ltd was requested by Multiplex to find a solution to the issues caused by keys being handed in late or lost on its site. London Architectural Hardware Ltd worked together with DOM UK Ltd, a leading manufacturer of digital and mechanical solutions and access and control specialists EasySecure, to create the software and hardware which powers the innovative new system.
