First impressions matter. And as a developer, you need to get a handle on it – literally! So my mission is to provide my audience with some insight into door handles and which ones you should use, depending on the style of your building project. So we’ll go through three styles – luxury, traditional and contemporary.
Let’s start. The first style in this three-part series is luxury.
Luxury effortlessly evokes vivid images of sprawling country retreats nestled amidst pristine landscapes, opulent city penthouses adorned with contemporary elegance, and exquisite homes offering glamorous coastal views. You sell luxury to customers who expect the very best in standards—any detail that doesn’t match expectations can make the difference between success and failure as you aim to secure that sale. So inevitably, that first impression, those initial moments of contact with each room as you open doors, matters. Therefore, your door handle plays a vital function. When it comes to seeking out the pinnacle of luxury, one nation stands out among the rest: Italy.
The first designer we shall focus on is Manital and its Victoria Handle.
Manital is a highly esteemed designer hailing from Italy. Since its establishment in 1990, Manital has consistently crafted and produced the most exquisite door hardware, proudly originating from the captivating shores of Lake Garda. From the very inception of their company, Manital has adhered to a resolute strategy—marrying the essence of 100% Italian design with flawless production. This unwavering commitment ensures that aesthetics, innovation, and unparalleled quality converge seamlessly into a single, harmonious entity. One example of Manital’s craftsmanship is the Victoria Handle Victoria – London Architectural Hardware (londonah.com). This beautiful Victoria lever handle recalls the luxury and glamour of the Victorian era. Crafted with meticulous precision and adorned with intricate ornamental patterns, this beautiful handle exudes a sense of timeless luxury. Perfectly suited for a range of projects, it is particularly ideal for heritage endeavours seeking to preserve the essence of the past or newer ventures aiming to evoke an old-world charm. Whether adorning a stately manor or gracing a contemporary space with a touch of nostalgia, this handle effortlessly bridges the gap between tradition and modernity, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication to any setting.
Also hailing from Italy is the Bimyou Lever Handle, created by celebrated Italian designer, Maurizio Giordano Bimyou – London Architectural Hardware. It features a straight-edge lever which is easy to grasp and operate comfortably. Its minimalistic lines will look good in any environment. The ‘Bimyou’ is a meticulously crafted handle for doors and windows that exudes a harmonious balance and understated elegance. Its sensuality and grace are effortlessly conveyed through its delicately curved form, captivating the senses with every touch. The name ‘Bimyou’ itself draws inspiration from a Japanese word that embodies the exclamation of “not bad!”—a profound expression of satisfaction and appreciation. Just as one experiences a sense of delight and admiration when grasping the smooth, curved surfaces of this model, ‘Bimyou’ encapsulates a sublime embodiment of refined aesthetics and tactile pleasure. But are you looking for something a little less minimalist and modern, by not too classical? Art Deco may be your style.
Art Deco is making a comeback in luxury homes throughout the UK and especially when it comes to apartments. Art Deco provides that early twentieth-century timeless charm. If you’re looking for such a style – the Ellis door handle is for you. The Ellis is exceptional creation by the talented Italian designer Paolo Pedrizzetti. This lever, designed with meticulous attention to detail, features a concealed fixed two-part screw on a round rose, showcasing the epitome of Italian craftsmanship. The front of the lever boasts a gracefully stepped design, enhanced by an etched thumb grip, while the same exquisite detailing is thoughtfully repeated along the back edge, capturing the timeless essence of the Art-Deco era. Adding to its allure, the lever is seamlessly recessed into the stem, further accentuating its sleek aesthetic. Regardless of the ambience, be it a traditional setting or a contemporary environment, these exquisite pieces are guaranteed to make a profound impact, radiating an aura of sheer elegance and sophistication. Designed to cater to the discerning tastes of both specifiers and property owners, Elis is a product that embodies uncompromising quality. Its flawless craftsmanship and attention to detail will undoubtedly captivate those seeking nothing less than perfection, making it an irresistible choice for those who demand the very best.

We’ve had themes of luxury, traditional – which brings us up to date with contemporary. The contemporary theme will always be the ‘in thing’, whether it was contemporary 35 years ago or today at this precise second! Whether you’re a developer building a new project suitable for young people or wanting to revamp your existing home – there are door handles which can tick all the correct boxes.
Last time, we focused on luxury, showcasing the must-have door handles for any luxurious abode. But what about returning to the basic idea of what a traditional door handle represents? When exploring ideas of tradition in England, we tend to concentrate on Georgian, Victorian-style, or 1930s homes – eras when the UK experienced mass housebuilding. And those homes were so successful, with their iconic designs, that we often consider them as our quintessential traditional homes.
My achievements are not my achievements. Independent craftsmen, suppliers, friends, and customers—these are the key pillars to the success of my company. We achieve together to provide the best product for you—the person who uses our work throughout your daily life. My dream when starting out in the world of door handles was to make daily life just a little bit better. Door handles are something you have to use every day; you can’t avoid them. While many people don’t give them much thought, it’s actually a good thing because it indicates that they are reliable and durable. It’s only when they start causing issues that they truly capture our attention. Providing reliable and durable products was never an issue for me; it’s the minimum standard.
